The Teabaggers Have Their Senate Candidate in California

He's Tancredo, he's rested and he's creepy. But will California vote slaphead?

Pioneering political blogger Mickey Kaus took out papers filed to run for U.S. Senate in California, he told LA Weekly. The Venice resident said he'll run this year against Barbara Boxer for her seat. He said he took out filed papers at with the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters, although a spokeswoman there could not yet confirm the filing.

We can only hope that the Washington Post Company will do the right thing and prohibit the pint-sized wingnut from using its website to promote his campaign.

Kausforsenate.com and kaus2010.com are unregistered, as is votegoat.com. The lack of preparation on Kaus's part is stunning.

This episode smells like a publicity stunt. Kaus wouldn't have the stones to run, if only because a campaign would require him to answer questions rather than rely on his just-asking-questions/I'm-a-clever-contrarian-or-am-I?/I'm-a-Dem-even-though-I-hate-all-Dem-and-all-Dem-policies word games. The Tea Baggers won't support Kaus fully, or with money, until he comes out of the closet and hires Andrew Breitbart as his spokesperson.
