Grand Old Police Blotter: Guilty, Guilty, Guilty Edition

Update:  Convicted criminal Dinesh D'Souza is guilty.

Update II:  D'Souza says he deeply regrets getting caught.

Update III:  10 to 16 months sounds about right. Expect D'Souza to postpone his World Victimization Tour until after sentencing.

Update IV: PoliticHO/AP are claiming that "His plea agreement calls for a sentence of 10 to 16 months in prison." That's almost certainly incorrect. That's a possible sentence, but not an agreed one.

Update V: Wingnut wankers are whimpering that the law D'Souza violated was unconstitutional. Maybe they should should have tipped Brafman off to that brilliant defense before his client entered his plea. [/sarcasm]

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. On the bright side, Dinesh can now put "Convicted Felon" on his business card, just like G. Gordon Liddy, Oliver North, et al. Who knows, maybe some fundie college needs an Ethics Professor. At the very least, Clear Channel could find him an empty radio booth.

Dinesh D'Convict.

My fav. whine is the violation of an unconstitutional law.

I can't even begin to list the LOLs I'm getting from that one.

However, I don't see anything unreasonable about a plea deal that places limits on the judge's options when it comes time to sentence him.

The funniest part of this is that this deal seems to have occurred very shortly after the judge denied D'ildo's motion to dismiss on grounds that he was being selectively prosecuted for his film about Obama. The judge rightly noted that the motion was notably absent of any evidence, let alone compelling evidence, to support the claim. Kind of like rearing back for a Hail Mary pass and having the ball batted back in your face.

If the world worked sensibly, this would be the moment when D'emented assumes a life of well-deserved obscurity, but, the world doesn't work that way. He'll probably have a job waiting for him at Patrick Henry College when he gets out.
