Why are people debating whether the federal Do Not Call list is an unwarranted government regulation? Tens of thousands of municipalities in this country have ordinances allowing residents and businesses to post signs telling door-to-door solicitors to piss off. These ordinances are about as controversial as clean water and blue skies. Only a nimrod like Jonah Goldberg would see the Do Not Call registry as big government intrusion on freedom or the product of "the nanny state."
