Fools and Their Money

Romneybot/National Reviewdomite Kevin Hassett, speaking of his love of America:
That prompted a tall, extremely tanned blonde named Kay, from Old Greenwich, Connecticut, to ask Hassett, the co-author of the 1999 book Dow 36,000, “So what do we do with our money?”

He recommended investing in real estate in another country, maybe in Central America somewhere. A woman to Kay’s right wrinkled her nose: How about a Western country? “Okay, if Europe is what you want, go to Poland,” he said optimistically. “Go to Krakow, buy a house for $50,000, and it’s going to be like Paris in a few years.”

As we drained the Pinot Noir, Hassett gave his audience the insider’s view of the Romney campaign, describing how its election-monitoring software crashed on November 6 and Obama was probably behind it, “because those guys are so evil.”

The table grumbled in assent.

“The thing we have to understand is, these are people who don’t have any morals,” said Hassett. “They’ll do anything. I’m one of their No. 1 targets. I mean, they really want me bad.”
Read the whole thing, if only to find out who wore "lime-green pants embroidered with pink swordfish and [a] navy polo shirt with white piping on the collar."

And enjoy the veal.  NR already did.

Hassett gave me the chance to double my money several years ago but I blew it. I saw a copy of "Dow 36,000" on sale for a dollar at a flea market. If I'd bought it I could've sold it on Ebay for twice that, easy.

Oh, yeah, I got a kick out of the image of Reed (who's described himself as a political assassin who operates by stealth) creeping up on someone in lime-green pants embroidered with neon-pink fish... the victim would die laughing.

The funnier part is Kevin Hassett claiming he's on the libruls' hit list. Is this the new status symbol of the right-wing? Being ignored by everyone but conservatives? Where's the hit? Hassett pretty much has submerged his reputation without any help whatsoever from the libs. I guess the conservative fashion today is wearing one's paranoia on one's sleeve.

Yoo's mom nailed it.

“To protect the ego, you have a defense mechanism: denial and projection,” she told me as her son leaned in to hear over the party din. “You deny your problem, saying it’s your fault and not mine. Instead of projection, blaming other people, we have to think of a positive solution. But I didn’t hear that yet.”

How many libruls, without prompting, can actually remember who Hassett is?

Among other things, Hassett apparently has no idea what real estate prices are like in Krakow. On a real estate site I found one house for sale in Krakow at an asking price of 200K euro which would be about $260k. He is farther off on Krakow real estate than he was on the Dow.
