Ailes Plays the Rubes

This article portrays the other Roger Ailes as a Republican kingmaker. Let's ask King Rudolph CMXI how that worked out for him.

I'm also suspicious of this set of quotes:

"He thinks things are going in a bad direction," another Republican close to Ailes told me. "Roger is worried about the future of the country. He thinks the election of Obama is a disaster. He thinks Palin is an idiot. He thinks she's stupid. He helped boost her up. People like Sarah Palin haven't elevated the conservative movement."

I'm sure some Republican said that, whether he/she believes it or not. But let me go out on a limb and suggest that Other Ailes thinks the election of Obama was a wonderful thing -- an endless source of phoney baloney controversy to keep his scared, elderly viewers glued to the Fox News Channel through the next commercial break. If Ailes had any interest in elevating the conservative movement, or in the direction of the country, he wouldn't program low-rent drivel and employ all the drivellers he's got on his payroll. The beginning and end of Ailes' interest is more interest in his bank accounts.
