MoDope

Does anyone believe MoDo's tale that she had a bad reaction to her (implicitly) first "try" at consuming pot candy?

I'd wager that bad prose is not the only thing Dowd has bogarted from Leon Wieseltier and Aaron Sorkin.

Next up: The NYT finances Nick Kristof's trip to liberate Vegas strippers and Ross Douthat's evangelization of Joe Francis.

  1. I smoked a ton of weed in the 70s and 80s, then just kind of naturally went away from it. In the last 20 years I've smoked it a few times, 2 or 3 of those times, after just a few puffs resulted in something pretty close to what she describes. Fetal, on floor, sure I was going to die, sure that thinking I was going to die, was goingto make me die. Pot is just not what it used to be. We used to smoke whole dime bags. A couple puffs of modern pot - fuck. It was incredibly unpleasant, and scary.

    Hail, bourbon.

  2. I can't read piece, just read excerpt at Sullivan's. Does she say it was her first time using pot at all/ I know in my case nothing happened first 2 times or so. But I don't think it means what she desrcibes couldnt have happed to her. Again - modern pot is a completely differnt beast.

  3. She doesn't say one way or the other. I think she's using the word "try" to suggest that her use of weed is new, but she could claim that she only meant she was "trying" it in candy form. The first try scenario is also emphasized from her claim that she didn't anticipate the outcome from the amount she consumed. The article suggests that she didn't make any effort to learn how much to consume for the desired result before eating it all.

  4. One thing it's safe to assume--this will not help her writing.

    Nothing can.

  5. Just read Charlie Pierce's piece on this. God almighty what an idiot Do is.

I don't agree with Pierce's eating over smoking thing, just to note.
