It's official! Making shit up and stealing other writers' work is a-ok, as long as you're a pale conservative. The right-wing Boston Herald has hired disgraced bottom feeder Mike Barnicle to write a column, six years after he was fired by the Boston Globe for turning in a column full of George Carlin jokes as his own thoughts. Of course, Barnicle never suffered much for his lack of ethics: after being canned by the Globe, he was given a weekly column by the New York Daily News and worked for MSNBC, and was embraced by such paragons of virtue as Pumpkinhead Russert and Don Imus.
No doubt all of those Howell Raines bashers will be equally outraged by the Herald's choice, and will call for the resignation of the Herald's top editors.
